About my Dad : Trust

This is from my second book called Remember the Nails : 40 Days doing something uncomfortable on purpose.

Day 34—Trust

Scripture : Exodus 20:16, Luke 16:10, Proverbs 11:3, Romans 12:3, 1 Timothy 1:19, Proverbs 12:5

Trusting a little is easy
Not revealing the whole truth is easy

Easy becomes safe
People like safe

Safe is comforting to the soul
People feel good when they are safe

When people are uncomfortable
They don’t trust much

They revert to methods to become comfortable again
Some spend their whole life looking for trust

Once trust is broken
It is real hard to get that back

There are many ways to break someone’s trust
One of the ways is to lie

Not telling the whole truth is lying
How can you trust someone really

If they don’t tell the whole truth
When you are not around

They tell the other parts they were holding inside
To a group of others who in turn spread gossip

Once gossip starts, the hearts true deceit can be revealed
Gossip is one of the true enemies of trust

People like to talk,
Gossip is one way to make conversation

Honest conversation is sometimes hard to do
As people form attitudes and opinions

When this happens, people have to really examine their heart
They need to look at their inner self

They need to remember who to trust
Men and Women will let you down.

When someone lets you down, it’s hard to trust
Trust is a fragile thing

Through trials and tribulations trust can be formed and strengthened
When you find a small group to share your life with

Trust can be nurtured and bonds can be made
Trust, Honesty, Integrity are foundational aspects of a relationship

So remember when around people, trust isn’t necessarily earned from the start
As when accepting Jesus as your savior

You know you want something different
Learning to unlearn your old ways and trust him takes time

Like accepting others in a group
Trust will come as long as you examine your own hearts intentions

Don’t be afraid to be honest, as long as it’s to build up, not to tear down
This is where a person can really start to trust

Story Behind the Poem

I was spending the weekend with my family and through various conversations and prayer for our small group. The word TRUST came to my heart and also (love). I prayed for guidance and how to start the small group. I saw the side of my Dad had a couple things on his heart, along with mine. Judgment came very swiftly. It was funny God trusted me enough to download the poems he had gifted me with. One of the key words I hadn’t written about was TRUST. I was inspired by God and he let me borrow someone’s internet long enough to download the poems and hit one page worth of key scripture on the word trust. I examined my own heart, I struggle with focusing on a negative of a person and it just festers. Other crutches I continue to hold onto the baggage for whatever reason I can’t explain.

About my Dad – Waves

This poem is from my third book called One Reason : 21 Days to a new Beginning!

Day 18 – The Waves

Scripture : Mark 4:35-41,Matthew 8:23-27,Luke 8:22-25

Waves are rhythm to the oceans
They have continual motion

Some are big, some are small
Some are long, some are tall

They carry energy to shape things
They are constant and never-ending

Life is like a wave
With pressure from outside factors

It forms a shape and constantly moves
Until its hits land

It makes a mark and disappears
Another wave right behind does the same thing

Not quite the same way
But with similar force

Over time, wave after wave
Things are shaped and molded

Waves are used to describe things in our lives
“Are we on the same wavelength?”

If we are, things seem to go smoothly
If we are not, things tend to crumble

Much like when waves pound a coastline
Over time, it is shaped and eroded away

There is something left, not like the original
There are times when different waves impact people

They challenge us, they change our lives
Some seem so big, we can’t ride them out

We have to become like the thrill seekers
Who want to ride the next big wave

Big wave after big wave
And still stay on top of the board of life

God will be there every step of the way
Providing balance and strength

We might not understand at first
It’s scary riding the Big wave

We have a constant feeling we are going to fall off
We don’t think about succeeding

Fear grips us so tightly
We don’t think about anything else

Although it might be larger than we are used to
And when the one wave ends, another wave will be right behind it

Seeking God’s glory is the ultimate wave
It starts small and grows

When it hits land, we need to hold on
The enemy will try to keep us down

He will instill fear and doubt
God wants us to grab the board, run back out into the water

Seek another wave, and “get on the same wavelength” as Him
Each stage of life is like a wave

We get going and sometimes get knocked off
We pick up ourselves, get back up and try again

The enemy is as persistent as waves are to a shoreline
He’ll try to shape us to his likening, which is opposite of God’s

We need to put our faith in riding God’s wave
There will be many over time, but one thing is for sure

God’s waves and wavelength are two things we want to be on
Looking at it from an eternal view, you’ll be glad you did

Hang on tight while riding the surfboard of life
One day we’ll finish riding

To walk into Glory and hang with God
Forever and ever!

Story Behind the Poem

On the last day of vacation, just before we were ready to head home, I looked out the window and noticed the waves. Almost instantly, I knew the good Lord wanted to use waves as a story.  The day before, I found out my Dad was going in for his first cancer treatment. I knew it was going to cause a new wave of anxiety. For my Dad, it’s another wave to ride.  After reading about waves and how they worked, I realized how we used the words “waves” and “wavelength” to describe things in our lives.

Poem : A fathers love

Poem : A father’s love

Scripture : Psalm 103:13

A father’s voice is comforting
With gentle authority given by our Heavenly father

He places individuals in the right location
To watch over his children while on earth

A father knows, you don’t have all the answers
No matter what happens, he states with my help, you will be ok

You might stumble at first, you might be a little uneasy.
Don’t fret, don’t panic, don’t give up.

I’m right beside you
Helping always, giving encouragement

Providing protection when needed
Allowing you to learn when the opportunity arises

Through many stages of life
There comes a time when you let me go

You are still there when needed
Not as often as when I first started

You help me in a different way
You pray and allow me to fail on my own

I think back when I first started
You were there, helping, guiding

You weren’t perfect, I now realize that a bit more
In a simple, loving way, I’m glad God had you there

A father’s loves is unique, firm but fair
Thank you Heavenly father, for sending me my Dad

It’s only for a while, but his instruction
Helped me become the Dad, I’m am today

Story Behind the Poem

I really started this day, Father’s Day June 18th, 2017 being attacked by up to seven, maybe more as I read a book called Defeating Dark Angels by Charles Kraft. The lies the enemy was telling me I was inadequate, contributed to me being bored, which causes me to be restless, my obsessiveness kicks in feeling like I need to achieve something to feel worthy, the enemy reminded me of my past failures, which contributes to insecurity.

All this yet, as I used some of the techniques I’ve learned in spiritual warfare books by Charles Kraft and Wellsprings International. The Holy Spirit revealed his indescribable words of love, transformation, patience, unconditional steady voice knowing to instill confidence. The Holy Spirit will say in a small still voice, you don’t have all the answers and yet the confidence to say I’m with you during the trial and will help give patience, help each step of the way. The enemies’ words don’t have the same tone and definitely don’t have love.

As I started writing a short saying, this poem came out. It had me reflect as a father as my kids are starting out in life, I reflected to my childhood, there are some unknowns as the Holy Spirit will reveal these when it’s appropriate. A father’s authority is important, yet it requires firm, but fair love, humbleness yet trust in God providing certainty in uncertain moments.  There is a lot more uncertainty in life than certainty, it only took a few years to have that understanding.

Scripture Proverbs 31:10-31

God showed me once again your gifts
You are kind, patient in your own way

You think of others before yourself
You remember things others forget

You’re steady, consistent in things you do
When you set your mind to something

Get out of the way, there is no stopping you
You have simple view of things, straight and to the point

The Lord joined us together in his great plan
We are to do life together on earth

We are opposites
With God’s love, we don’t get in each other’s way

The enemy reminds me of many things
I can’t fix this, can’t build that

All the enemy reminds me is the things I can’t do
There is no love or compassion in anything they say

On the other hand, God reminds he loves me
He tells me all the time of the gifts I have

One of them is writing to you
It’s not something everyone can do

I guess that is the definition of special
Perform something not many others can do

One day, God may have me do this more
Until then, I can write, pray for you

This reflects God’s love
Just like you, your love and compassion are awesome

It’s a simple gift God shows me everyday
I love you, more than words can describe

Story Behind the Poem

My wife is a selfless person. She thinks of others first, ask anyone who knows her. She’ll drop what she’s doing to help others. Unlike myself, who usually thinks of myself first. I’ll be out to dinner, they bring an appetizer, I’ll start eating without sharing with others. I’m just enjoying the food. She’ll give me that look, “what about others?” she’ll ask with her loving voice and particular look?! On occasion, she’ll have a couple of young kids spend the night, I think overall, she doesn’t get much rest because she is worried about them getting sleep. Unlike me, I go to sleep and wake up refreshed, she has caught a wink here and there. There is just something about her that is endearing, there is a love and a feeling of pride knowing she is a Gift from above.  I could brag all day about her gifts, her selfless and would protect her so she could continue if necessary, it’s special and worth bragging a little about.

Poem : My Mom

Poem – My Mom

My mother is many things
She was my encourager, protector when I was young

She was always patient
She provided extra love when needed

She crushed pills when I couldn’t swallow them whole
She gently washed and rinsed my hair so I didn’t have to put my head under water

She typed up my papers, she didn’t make me do it
She went out of her way to spoil me

Didn’t matter what was happening
She was kind even in times when I deserved punishment

Always there, Always present in my life
She has been my counselor in all times

She was the best mother a kid could have
More patient than words can describe

I was one of those kids
Extra high maintenance I’m sure

Even as life has changed
She is still still being a mother

While learning to grow up
She was protecting us, giving unconditional love

Always someone you can rely on for advice and direction
Never tells you no and always honest with love

Her advice rang true
“It’ll happen when it’s meant to be”

Her words were spot on
The right house came along when it was meant to be

As we had kids of our own, she never interfered
She let us make mistakes and always showed love

Today, I’m glad to say Happy Birthday Mom
As tears stream down my cheeks, my love couldn’t be greater

The Holy Spirit helped write these words
God says there is nothing greater than Love

When he made you
He filled your heart with it

You have shared your love with us kids everyday
We love you, we thank God you are our mom!

Story Behind the Poem

My mother has always been a patient, kind person. I remember being one of those kids who was high maintenance, strong willed and wanting things my way. I remember her being extra patient and putting up with me even internally she wanted to do something else I’m sure.

As we’ve grown, she was always supportive and still is to this day. She makes you feel special, she handles each of her kids with love and care, although we are all different. In all my years of writing stories, this one I teared up the most. I thank God for the ability to express myself, when I was younger, it is something I struggled with. My mom was right there helping me write down words I had in my head, but couldn’t put together a sentence.

PS – I’m sure she’ll even edit this poem meant for her, she has always been my number 1 editor!

Poem : Final Final

Poem : Final Final

Scripture : Matthew 25:31-46

Things started out perfect
God’s design on full display for his creation

For a while, we walked with God in the Garden side by side
He was in perfect communion with his children

Part of his perfect plan, he created Free Will
He said eat anywhere except from this one spot

We chose to listen to a lie
We were evicted from the Garden

God, even when we brought sin into the world
He still showed compassion to His creation

He STILL loved us so much, he set course how to redeem us
His plan took quite a while to mature

God provided the perfect sacrifice
His son Jesus Christ came to earth humble

He came in the middle of the night
He came in the form of a baby

His ministry was about three years
He walked and rode all over the country side

Performing many miracles for people to witness
Some are recorded in his word

God provided all things under his feet, full authority
There is nothing out of his reach or control

Regardless of the situation, he has full control
When looking for a Final answer, seek the full authority of Christ

Through Christ, he provides the Final, Final answer
When you are unsure, ask him, he’ll provide you what is needed

One day, he’ll be the ultimate judge
Sheep will go up, Goats will go the other way

He loves all his creation more than we know
Before it’s too late, accept his free gift of eternal life

When the FINAL day arrives, His judgement will be final
When you think of Christ, he is the FINAL, FINAL

Story Behind the Poem

I was attending some training at my local church and the phrase “put all things at Jesus feet”. I heard for a few weeks and caused me to get frustrated. After writing a story called “At the feet of Jesus”, every time I hear those words, the phrase “FINAL, FINAL” pops in my head. Jesus is final authority and is in full authority of the current world. For those who have accepted his free gift of eternal life, on the final day, we’ll see FINAL, FINAL in action.

Story : Blood Covering of Protection

For Christians, have you ever stopped to realize when Jesus died on the Cross he shed his blood for us?   It is stated in Matthew 26:26-28 about communion and the new covenant.   I attended a conference recently and this phrase “Blood Covering Protection”, “Blood Cover Protection” or “Blood Covering of Protection”.

Regardless how you say it, it’s amazing.  I wanted pass along the original picture of a saying God laid on my heart.  Anytime the Lord places these sayings. I want to pass along for others. May you ask for God’s protection.

The saying reads the following.

“The Lord LOVES his children more than we know.  His vision was perfect from the start.  His perfect love gave us free will.  By his Love He put Free Will and His Sovereignty on the same level.  We chose to listen to the lie.  We were evicted from the garden.

At that moment, God put on the path redemption through his son Jesus.  It took along time to mature, it was done at the right time, not too soon, not too late.  When Jesus came, he was humble in nature instead on a grand horse with trumpets announcing his entrance.  He died a criminals death for his creation.  His blood brought redemption no one can understand.

Lord, thank you for  shedding your blood and providing blood protection for your children.  May you provide blood protection over this house. Your light will shine.”

Here is the original  image of the writing + sketch.  I plan getting made into a framed poster with an enhanced picture.

God bless,

I’ve recently started studying the book of Titus.   It’s the first book of the New Testament I’ve studied in a while.  I’m also using Easy English, I’ll pass my thoughts along when I’m done.

Poem : At the feet of Jesus

Poem : At the feet of Jesus

Scripture : 2 Timothy 1, Ephesians 6:10-18, Ephesians 2:4-6

When something bothers you
Place it at the feet of Jesus

His shoulders are big enough to handle anything
When on the Cross, he bore all sin for all men, for all time

Think about that for a moment
All sin that would happen present and future

He bore for mankind in exchange for a relationship
The opportunity to return to the Father

It has been said the first person you’ll see in Heaven is Jesus
I have no proof, one would hope

The one who provided hope would confirm it
The moment you walk into eternity

For those who are still on their earthly journey
There are ‘things’ that don’t like the phrase

“Put at the feet of Jesus”
I say this three times

At the Feet of Jesus
At the Feet of Jesus

At the Feet of Jesus
Each time this statement is said

The anger grows inside, feeling more uncomfortable
There is no explanation to why

I LOVE Jesus with all my heart
His sacrifice was the ultimate show of Love for me

Whatever is broken inside my spirit
Does not like the fact light will expose darkness

Every time, there is victory
Light WILL expose darkness

God’s word say we should have hope
God’s word say we should not fear

For he will protect his Children
No matter what, lean on him

God, whatever is bothering me
I ask with your authority to expel it

Where ever it’s supposed to go
I like the option, “At the feet of Jesus”

Darkness would like to put Jesus in a box
He would like you to think Jesus isn’t Lord

He is, God’s word says so
Thank you Lord for your protection

I pray for protection over myself, my family
My friends, my gifts from you

In Jesus name
I bow at your feet

Story Behind the Poem

I’m learning to be part of a new ministry involving prayer. There are many aspects although one of them if there is something bothering you, the statement in example prayers was “Put at the feet of Jesus”. Every time I would hear that statement, something inside me would be uncomfortable, almost to the point of wanting to argue.

I went several sessions hearing this statement only to realize one morning before work something didn’t want me to hear these words. I can’t explain it, I can’t describe but in my nature, instead of not saying. I said the statement over and over and over. It’s in my nature to “poke the bear”, it’s in my nature to “pester” and say uncomfortable things.

My second book sub-title called “40 Days Doing Something Uncomfortable on Purpose” is probably the single most powerful statement the Lord has laid on my heart. I LOVE that statement, every time I hear a sermon, every time I hear someone speak of change. The word uncomfortable and having to embrace change are used in the same statement.

I’ll continue to say this statement over and over until whatever is uncomfortable leaves. I’ve accepted Jesus, he is my savior, the Holy Spirit helps me write and process a lot of things. I LOVE the Holy Spirit, I LOVE the Holy Spirit! I can’t say that enough. My chest grows a little when saying that. Don’t have a spirit of fear, that is said in God’s word, put on your armor of God, that is in his word. Jesus will be with us, he won’t forsake us, his word says that.  Look at the example scripture in this poem.  Thank you God for helping me realize this was something not in love with you that was uncomfortable when hearing the words. I take all I have and “Lay at your feet!, no matter where you are at” <big grin>

Poem : The Bag

Poem : The Bag

Scripture : Psalm 39:12

Imagine for a moment
People walking around with an extra bag with them

Almost everyone has a bag of their own
Very few without

The bag is plain, about the size of a suitcase
There are no wheels

This person shuffles the bag from one hand to another
Rules state they cannot carry the bag over the shoulder

Moment after moment
Day after day

They carry this bag, when they go someplace
They set it outside, they pick up when they leave

This could be work, home, church
The store, many places, they even have a bag holder for people

It’s so common, businesses accommodate for peoples bags
They say it’s normal to have your own bag

When a person comes home, goes to bed
They put the bag down outside their room

There is very little relief from carrying their bag
What is in the bag you ask?

No two bags are alike, no two bags weigh the same
It’s different for every person who carries this type of bag

The older we get, the heavier the bag CAN become
Bad memories, Guilt, Shame, Depression are among popular items carried around

The enemy walks beside us reminding us daily
HEY…what’s in your bag? Can you tell me about it?

We are hesitant to say for we will feel shame
The enemy laughs and goes about his business keeping us company

We can suffer mental and physical problems from carrying our bag
God reminds us to stay in his word often

He reminds us forgiveness, his Yoke his light
He uses many parables, examples to show his Love

He has an entire system to help relieve us from carrying our bags
All we must do is turn around, hand it over to him

This is harder than it sounds, we get comfortable in our discomfort
We like routine, we like what we can see

Try for a few days, say “God, here is my bag”
Please keep an eye on it for me

Before long, people will look at you differently
They’ll ask, where is your bag?

You state, “Good thing you asked”
‘I gave mine to God, he is keeping an eye on it for me”

it’s been awhile since I carried my bag
It’s different to see people without bags

My body, mind and soul feel so much different
You should give it a try yourself, give your bag to God.

Story Behind the Poem

This story was originally going to be called Suffering Silently.  It was a way to describe people and what they carry around trying to keep an positive vibe about themselves.  Every go on vacation? Have you tried to carry an extra bag of items YOU HAVE to take? It can be books, comfort food, something that doesn’t fit in your regular suite cases. It can be a pain, you pick your purse, backpack or small carry on, you take the other bag or two. Your hands are full, then there is this “extra bag” of stuff you think you need.

This example represents things we carry around with us in our spiritual lives. The enemy is all too willing to remind us, keep us down. Regardless of your station in life, remember God shows us many examples of his love, before we can accept his Love fully, we have to ACCEPT IT. It’s like a habit, we have to force ourselves to do it enough until the behavior becomes a habit, like brushing our teeth. Ever left the house and forgot to brush your teeth? Don’t you feel odd when you realize your teeth are brushed? You blow in your hand to see if you have bad breath?

Treat God’s Love and his ability to take stuff from our lives, stop several times a day, yell, scream, type, text someone, post on social media. GOD this is your stuff, here is my bag. Before long, it’ll be like your habit of brushing your teeth. It’ll feel odd when you start to carry around things, you’ll go “oh yeah”, God here is more stuff for my bag.
